Art Therapy - A Blessing In Disguise

Art Therapy A Blessing In Disguise

Presenting itself in many forms Art Therapy can be a blessing.   Whether it be from taking photos, to writing or to painting it can bring people support and even friendship where there wasn’t before.
“A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Art can bring a closeness to oneself and joy to others. I say it can be in disguise as well because many people don’t consider themselves artists. That depends on how you describe an artist.  I think an artist is a being that was created to create.   That would make all of us right?

If you knew that you were an artist or if I told you right now you were... what would you create for me?  I bet
you have something right off the top of your head.
Do you think “Oh well I am just a Mom or a Dad?”  You created a person who is still a work in progress! What beautiful Art!
Maybe you think from your childhood, “I’ll make a card!” or “I’ll make macaroni art.”
Maybe you think in writing or pictures or cleaning.   Yes cleaning can be a form of art...have you ever heard of decorating you have to start with cleaning to decorate!
Do you love to cook? That is an Art!

Before I started the blog Confuzzled Books I probably would not have considered writing as a form of art.   Not because it is not, it was just because I did not think of it before.  Writing to me was as hard as drawing and more taxing.   Now I look at it as a form of recovery and as with all art it all takes practice but it is all art! We are all works in progress!

TV Review : Star Trek Episode 1 Season 1

Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One (Remastered Edition)

Title: The Cage Epsiode 1 Season 1
Series: Star Trek
Creator: Gene Roddenberry
Rating :

What is it about?

Captain Christopher Pike and his crew on the Starship Enterprise encounter a telepathic race that can create a world into any they desire or make life a living hell.

My Thoughts:

I did not think I would enjoy this as much as I did.  For some reason I remember the original series growing up was less interesting to me.   As I watch it now I see that the acting is good (not as good as the second epsiode), and the story was interesting.

I had no idea that Captain Kirk was not on this first episode. It seems that Spock was the only one in all of the Star Trek episodes.   Although because from episode 1 and 2 Leonard Nimoy looked so different my husband and I argued whether it was him or not.  He thought it was not him.

I am definitely enjoying the series more then I thought I would.  I still think Star Trek: The Next Generation is the better of the series but that is besides the point.

Anime Review - This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Epsiode 1

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World: Complete Collection
Title: Dawn is the Dividing Line Between Light and Darkness Epsiode 1
Series: This Ugly Yet Beautiful World
Director: Shoji Saeki
Rating :

What is it about?
A lazy high school student and his friend come across a strange light in the sky that turns out to be a beautiful girl.

My Thoughts:

The cover for this attracted me on Netflix but it ended up being an Anime I don’t think I would like.  I am more for the cutey animes, like Ranma ½.  This had me a little interested but bored at the same time.

Yes I understood the title and knew that it might get a little dark but the way it was described just seemed that it would be different.

Maybe it was because I related a little to much to Takeru, the lazy high school student, maybe because part of me was interested in the ending of this episode and at the same time disliked.  Could be that is the point.  Yes there are part that are ugly yet beautiful.  It is just this kind of darkness brings me down sometimes just because of the fact I guess it is true.

I don’t think I will be watching the rest as it just wasn’t for me.  Although my interested is a little curious to know what happens.  Maybe another time I will turn to it.  The nice thing about time sometimes it changes your views on things so this rating may not be permanent.

Had I watched the trailer on YouTube before hand I probably would have not watched it.

Pear Cheesecake Parfait's w/ Ginger

PEAR CHEESECAKE PARFAITS  W/ GINGER                         Makes 4 servings

Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese with 3 tbs sugar and 3 tbs heavy cream. Put a heaping teaspoon of graham cracker crumbs in each glass. Top with cream cheese mixture, chopped canned or fresh pears and chopped crystallized ginger, then SERVE...

This was originally suppose to serve 4 but we only got 2 for those dishes, so if you have smaller dishes then because that is a lot of cream cheese and I didn't think of it until after I ate it.  So not the healthiest dessert but tasty.
Also I could only find the ginger at natural food store not Giant.  They are kinda gummy like candy not like sugar which is what I thought they would be like.  Very strong when not on the dish but you can't really taste the ginger with the pears.

Movie Review - Avalon High

Avalon High

Title: Avalon High
Series: N/A
Director: Stuart Gillard
Rating :

What is it about?
The reincarnation of King Arthur has come back to fight for his kingdom only now it in high school

My Thoughts:

First I want to say I love anything usually to do with King Arthur and Camelot and I wasn’t sure about this movie.  I knew it was based on the book by the same name by Meg Cabot but I had not read it. (From what I understand you want to see the movie before the book because it horribly butchers it.)  I was expecting a pretty cheese filled movie with bad effects that I have seen Disney do but I was pleasantly surprised.

The acting was not as cheesy as I thought would be (except for the end) the production was great.  I thought the story was written well enough.   It was entertaining.   It had me curious to know if some of the story had been in the myths.  Like the Order of the Bear...I was very curious about that.  I thought for a teen Disney movie it was pretty good and would watch it again if it came on. It made me want to read the book which sounds even better to me.

Movie Review - Princess Kaiulani

Title: Princess Kaiulani
Series: N/A
Director:Marc Forby

Rating :

What is it about?
The last princess for Hawaii fights for her people’s freedom from the United States of America.

My Thoughts:

I watched this movie not knowing much about the history of Hawaii before it became a state of the United States of America.  It was interesting to learn about the story of the last princess (or some say Queen) of Hawaii.  This intelligent, beautiful and elegant young woman fights with passion for her country and it’s people.

I guess you can say we all know how it ends and unfortunately it is a very sad story for Princess Kaiulani.

The movie is a little confusing at the beginning because it is not explained how she is a princess and her uncle is King not her mother who passes.   At least I don’t think her mother was Queen.  Let’s just say I am uncertain about that but Kaiulani starts out as a princess and her father is of Scottish descent and not of royal blood.

About 45 minutes into the movie I thought is it over all ready not because I was bored really but because the story just seemed like what more could there be to tell.  You have to realize this is a film about Princess Kaiulani and not just Hawaii.

I think the costumes and production was beautifully done.   The storyline a little confusing at time and cuts to soon to different points but it was well done.   Not good enough to watch twice but interesting enough if you are into the history of royals and history of Hawaii.
